Muffin tin multiplication

Just in time for Memorial Day, I had a great idea for multiplication using a muffin tin and star shaped beads I had purchased last year after 4th of July because they were on sale. Ideally you will use a 12 cupcake tin, but I only have a 6 cupcake tin (it’ll do for now). Using flash cards to go along with the activity is optional.

This is a hands-on way to illustrate “sets of” when multiplying.

I think this would be a fun way to incorporate holidays into learning math facts using colored/shaped beads – red and green for Christmas, pink, red and white for Valentine’s Day, orange and black for Halloween.
